Barbourville ARH Hospital is a 25-bed facility primarily serving Knox and Bell counties in Kentucky. The critical access hospital offers a variety of services including gastroenterology, cardiology, podiatry, cardiac rehabilitation, sleep studies and general surgery.
Additionally, the hospital offers skilled nursing “swing beds,” which provide an opportunity for patients to transition from observation to acute care to extended-stay post-acute care without changing rooms. Skilled nursing through swing bed care typically lasts 7 to 21 days, as the goal is to prepare patients for a return home.
Barbourville ARH Hospital, which was acquired by Appalachian Regional Healthcare in December 2015, operates both a retail and specialty pharmacy as well as six clinics.
